The Anglican Church will have a new bishop; he is Canon Phillip Wright. The 38-year-old Wright will take up the post after he is ordained on November 17th.
Wright will be the youngest bishop ever to lead the Anglican Church in Belize and also the youngest in the province of the West Indies. In so doing, he overtakes senior clergy members in Belize who were also in line for the post. He was elected by the Bishops of the churches in the West Indies Province.
Wright was ordained as a priest in 1993. The Anglican Diocese in Belize has been without a bishop since November of last year when Bishop Sylvestre Romero Palma resigned.
