One of them tried to snatch Castillo's hat and glasses. Castillo resisted, and that's when the attacker took out a knife and stabbed him repeatedly to the forehead and the stomach. Another group that was in the area saw the crime and detained the two attackers until police came. Castillo was taken to the KHMH where he died 12 hours later from massive internal injuries.
Reno Castillo's father Mario this evening told us what he knew about the vicious attack
Mario Castillo, Father of Deceased,
“Some three fellows attacked him. There were three couples, three pairs, and my son was staggering because two of the fellows was carrying him then. But when they came up with knife and thing, what they did was flee from the scene because they were afraid, because they saw these people, these men coming up with knives. Well when they ran away, Reno was so drunk, he did not know what was going on. And they attack him because they figure he was the one that had the money. So when they attack him they threw the bicycle at him. It's obvious that when they threw the bicycle at him, he had his hands busy. When one of the fellows attack him and he grabbed this fellow, when he grabbed the fellow they started wrestling with one another. That’s when the other one came and he stuck him with the knife in his back, that's when Reno fell inside the drain, with this fellow on top of him. And the other one now, when he saw that, the one that he had hugged up, get up, but Reno stayed in the drain, because he was injured already. Then the other fellow come with the bicycle and he ram his face with the bicycle. That's when his common law wife came up with a cellular and hit the man in his face with the cellular. The man stop and when he stop, the woman pick up the cellular and call police. And when they fled about 50 yards form the scene, Police came down the street. All this time now Reno is in big trouble, he get up and when he get up he had like a valve coming out of his nose between the two eyes and the nose. So then the police truck put Reno in the back.”
“Well, you know usually, these boys when they go on the street, they always believe that these things will not happen to them. We men we are just like that we think we are macho men, and when we go on the street we don't remember that somebody might attack us.”
Police today charged those two men for murder. They are brothers Wayne and Morris Martinez. Wayne is 24 years old and Morris is 27 - they are both of a Mahogany Street address.
