The Director of Public Prosecution says Abdiel Sandoval belongs behind bars and he will take his fight to get him in a jail cell all the way to the Supreme Court.

Last night we told you that the 19 year old, who is facing attempted murder charges, was detained by Cayo Police on Friday and appeared before Magistrate Hettie Stewart on Monday. There Stewart refused to revoke the bail and Sandoval

walked out of the courtroom on Monday evening. Stewart is the same Magistrate who granted Sandoval bail in December when Sandoval's attorney Mike Peyrefitte requested bail, which the prosecutor did not oppose.

As we've reported, that granting of bail flew in the face of an order from Supreme Court Justice Michelle Arana on October 25th, which denied Sandoval bail. Now it's on the strength of Arana's court order that the DPP says he will go to the Supreme Court next week. Sandoval's attorney Mike Peyrefitte told us that in the normal course, the DPP would have gotten a chance to argue against bail on February 20th when both sides appear before Magistrate Stewart. With this latest ruling, the case will now likely go to the Supreme Court before that date.

In September of last year, Sandoval was accused of stabbing and torturing his 15-year-old girlfriend in a fit of rage. She is now paralyzed and her family members have complained that Sandoval is intimidating them.
