Police Corporal Accused of Rape

A Police Corporal is tonight accused of the rape and abduction of a woman in Corozal. The disgraced cop is Edgar Tapia and the victim claims that around 3:30 am on Sunday she was entering her Mitsubishi van when Tapia ambushed her. She says he forced her into her van and ordered her to drive to the Finca Solana area where he raped her. Police investigated and Tapia has been charged with rape, forcible abduction, and taking a motor vehicle without permission of the owner. A Corozal Magistrate released Tapia on $5,000 bail. As for his job as a police officer, Tapia has been interdicted. He was off duty and out of uniform when he allegedly committed the act.
