Yesterday the Registrar of the Supreme Court sent out a press release scolding the Belize Times, and today the Chief Justice issue a judgement roughly rebuking governments attorney, Solicitor General Elson Kaseke.

The 7 page judgement states that Kaseke acted improperly as an officer of the court and was discourteous to the Chief Justice. That's because he chose to leave the court, rather than appear, as summoned, to hear the reversal of the Chief Justice's judgement. According to the Chief Justice's judgement, "his behavour depicted a certain petulance that is unbefitting and unbecoming an officer of the court."

And more than that, the Chief Justice's judgement discloses that the main reason for the Chief Justice even writing the judgement is: "because the behavior of the Solicitor General left much to be desired as an officer of the court." And while the CJ speaks strongly against the Solicitor General, we are informed that he may wish to advance his complaints further by reporting his disrespect of the high court to the general legal council. Again, that is rumored but not confirmed.
