He's accused of trying to kill his ex-wife and now 37-year-old Clarence Henry Richards is remanded for it. Richards appeared in magistrate's court where he was formally charged with attempted murder, grievous harm and use of deadly means of harm.
Florine Martinez Richards reported to police that on March 19th she was standing in front of her gate talking to a male friend when her ex husband charged from out the nearby bushes and attacked her with a machete, chopping her to the left side of the head. He then turned the machete on her companion but he ran off and returned with help to restrain him.
In court today Richards did not deny being on the scene but denied chopping his ex-wife. He told the court that he went to see his wife after he claims she had sent to men to hurt him. He adds that when he arrived on the scene he saw his wife lying on the ground and all he did was pick her up. Apparently the Magistrate didn't buy it, and he was remanded to custody until April 27th.
