A 21-year-old man has to pay the court at total of 20 thousand dollars after being found guilty of keeping an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. Lionel Neal appeared before Chief Magistrate Herbert Lord where he was fined $10,000 for each offence. He was ordered to pay $2,500 up front but Neal was unable to meet the demand and was remanded to the Hattieville Prison.
A complete default will see him serve 2 years in prison. It's not as if he would have been able to walk if he were however as he is on remand on charges of attempted murder dangerous harm and attempted robbery.
The incident for which Neal was convicted today occurred on May 30 of 2005 when a police inspector and two BDF officers on mobile patrol saw him throw a.380 pistol in the Yarborough area.
