Chadwick Debride is charged for killing a police constable and he was on trial for murder, but today, that trial was aborted. This morning the jury was sent home because one of the jurors was sick and was unable to continue hearing the trial. As a result the trial, which was already well underway, was aborted by presiding Judge John Troadio Gonzalez. An "aborted trial" simply means that the case has been delayed. In this case a new jury will be empanelled at the start of the October session.
Debride is accused of killing Constable Nedi Reymundo on Christmas Eve of 2004. Reymundo had just left a barbershop at the corner of Bishop Street and West Canal when he was shot. Debride will remain in jail until the new trial. Debride is the last of four men originally charged for Reymundo's murder. Charges have been dropped against the other three.
