Tonight a mother of four is dead, a well-known doctor is in critical condition and two others are also receiving medical treatment. Sometime around 2:40 this afternoon, Dr. Miguel Rosado was driving from Belmopan to Belize City in his red Toyota 4Runner. Between mile 11 and 12 on the Western Highway, Rosado lost control when the right back wheel broke off, causing the SUV to overturn violently on the left side of the road. His passenger Michelle Lee Leslie was violently ejected from inside the vehicle and landed on the road some distance ahead. A watchman in the area Reginald Budd explains what he saw.
Reginald Budd,
“I saw the young lady fly out the vehicle and drop so many feet from the vehicle. And then everybody started coming and then everything got confused out here.”
Alfonso Noble,
How many vehicles?
Reginald Budd,
“Dr. Rosado car had four people, three males and one female. I think she died on the way or died out here.”
Alfonso Noble,
Other than that lady, anybody else badly injured?
Reginald Budd,
“A young man and Dr. Rosado, he had like the brain exposed so you know the condition. They took him first and then they took the young lady and then the next guy went in a next ambulance.”
Also traveling with Rosado at the time were 24-year-old Leon Leslie who received body injuries while 41-year-old Marlon Kuylen received minor injuries to his had. Rosado remains at the Universal Health Services Hospital where he is undergoing treatment after receiving severe head injuries while Michelle Leslie, a mother of four, died on the spot.
