The leadership of Belizean football is in limbo tonight after the incumbent Football Federation of Belize President Dr. Bertie Chimilio and his executive were supposedly ousted on Saturday. We say supposedly because depending on who you talk to, elections either were or were not held on Saturday.

The new President-Elect is Ray Davis alongside Vice-Presidents Marlon Kuylen and Dr. Miguel Rosado. They were elected at a General Assembly meeting held on Saturday at the BIM Building in Belize City.

The problem with Saturday's meeting is that Chimilio wasn't present and neither was his executive, which has been in place for about 9 years now. In fact only three of the six district associations allowed to vote attended Saturday's meeting. As of now the new executive is only so in name.

And while the fight is yet to be resolved, in a sad note, that new executive met in Belmopan today and they were returning to Belize City this afternoon when Kuylen and Rosado were involved in the Western Highway accident we told you about earlier.

For his part, Dr. Bertie Chimilio this evening conveyed best wishes to Kuylen and Rosado. That aside, he did however say that he is the President of the FFB and will remain there until legitimate elections are held. Chimilio told us that on Saturday three suspended members voted for three suspended officers. He says Saturday's event was completely bogus. He reserved further comment until later.
