31-year-old alleged wife-killer Lloyd Brakeman, was supposed to be tried this morning in the Supreme Court. But Brakeman has no attorney and the judge granted an adjournment until September 13.
On Saturday, November 20 of 2004, 36 year old Irene Gibson, 5 months pregnant was killed with a gunshot to the chest in her home at the corner of Baghdad and Alexandria Streets. She had a gunshot wound to the left side of her chest, said police. Police later arrested Gibson's common-law-husband, Lloyd Brakeman and charged him with murder, keeping a prohibited firearm and keeping unlicensed ammunition.
This morning in the Supreme Court he was indicted on two counts, the first for manslaughter by negligence or in the alternative, one count of causing death by careless conduct. He pleaded not guilty and the case is tentatively scheduled to begin next week Wednesday.
