They moved over a few weeks ago and yesterday morning, a ceremony was held to inaugurate the new Magistrate's Courts and offices which are now housed in the Old Treasury Building in Belize City. In his remarks, the fully recovered Chief Justice, Dr. Abdulai Conteh, said that while the new court building may not be glamorous, its courtrooms will deliver a most splendid kind of justice.

Dr. Abdulai Conteh,
"It is not a gleaming tower of steel marble as is to be found in some of our neighboring countries...rather it is a modest two storey building of utilitarian functionally. This does not however I trust diminish in anyway the quality of justice that will be administered in it. The building itself is modest and even with its refurbishing, it still does not contain the special dimension to adequately solve this process. some of its quarters are cramped for space and will no doubt cause some problems to its users and the public. It is only therefore to be hoped that with time and resources these problems will be ameliorated but for now I can only urge everyone to make the most of what is available."

That was Conteh's first public engagement as Chief Justice after suffering a stroke in May.
