The DPP won't prosecute former Mayor David Fonseca for $218,000 in missing money, but what about the $155,000 in so-called charitable donations that Fonseca never accounted for? Well today the DPP sent out a very rare press release saying he's on the case, but the police are the ones dragging their feet.
The DPP says that at the end of August, he directed the head of CIB Superintendent Chester Williams to open a new file to investigate that allegation. But according to today's release, his directive was never complied with. So Anderson says he's told the man in charge of National Senior Superintendent James Magdaleno to move on it. The DPP says he expects an answer from the police by Monday.
Today, Superintendent Williams told us his office is investigating and when the file is completed, it will be sent to the DPP's office.
