Reports to 7NEWS say that the DPP has urged the Police Internal Affairs Department to aggressively pursue an investigation that could implicate Superintendents of Police Chester Williams and Russell Blackett. The Internal Affairs Department launched the investigation after Williams and his CIB team were accused of forcing a confession from a murder suspect in Dangriga.
In July of this year, Williams and a CIB team from Belize were dispatched to Dangriga (See Father & Son Killed by In-law in Robbery Turn Murder) after two men Jose Alvarado Sr. and Jr. were found dead. 4 men were charged for their murder and the ringleader was Jason Aleman, Alvarado's own son-in-law. Well his relatives say the confession was brutally forced out of him and that launched an internal affairs probe. Well now, the DPP has gotten involved and has sent a memo asking the IAD to investigate specific charges against Williams and Blackett.
Reports say the DPP hopes that he can get enough evidence to bring charges. It's worth noting that the DPP and Williams, the CIB boss have long had an adversarial relationship.
