Owen Parham appeared in Magistrate Court today charged for being a housebreaker, but he says he's just a victim of bad timing and bad company. Parham and Jesse James Garbutt appeared in Magistrate's Court today to answer to charges of burglary and handling stolen property.
Last week Thursday, the Ladyville homes of neighbors Krisna Reneau and Albert McKoy were burglarized. Yesterday police found three men in a Parham's car in Hattieville, and stuffed in the trunk were some of the stolen items including a box of 9 millimeter ammunition.
They appeared in court today where Parham told Chief Magistrate Herbert Lord that he had nothing to do with the burglaries. He says he was bringing his sister in law back to Belize City after she had attended his daughter's funeral in Punta Gorda. That's his daughter who was run over by a bus.
Parham says he had to stop in Hattieville because his vehicle was overheating and as he did two men approached him and asked him for a ride in exchange for ten dollars. As they were loading their loot into his vehicle police busted the men, but one of them managed to escape. It's a likely story, but Lord wasn't buying it, and remanded Parham and Garbutt to the Hattieville Prison until December 12th. He said a charge of keeping unlicensed ammunition should also be brought against them.
