Ernest Hinds is the only prisoner still at large after escaping from police last week Thursday. But even though he's not around, today he was still sentenced to jail in the Magistrate's Court. Hinds and Joseph Almendarez were fingered as the culprits who tried to rob Henry's Bar located on Central American Boulevard.

At the time two men entered the establishment armed with a firearm, but were foiled in their attempt when a plain clothed Sergeant Andrew Ramirez drew his service revolver. They fired on him and the bullet tore through his shirt, but caused him no injury.

They were charged with attempted robbery, three counts of aggravated assault, use of deadly means of harm and damage to property. During trial a witness testified that he saw the two men outside the bar before they put on their masks and he was able to pick them out in an ID parade.

The men were today found guilty and Chief Magistrate Herbert Lord Sentenced them to 5 years for attempted robbery, 2 years for each count of aggravated assault, 2 years for use of deadly means of harm and 6 months for damage to property. They will serve 7 and a half years in jail.
