He was involved in a car accident yesterday and today security guard 21-year-old Levan Thompson died. Thompson was the passenger in a Ford Escort traveling from Belize City to Cayo around 9:30 am to pick up money from the Lotto offices for JB's Security Company. The driver was Ewart Arnold who told police that between miles 60 and 61 he lost control of the vehicle and collided into a van which was heading from Cayo to Belize. Arnold's Escort flipped a number of times and Thompson, who was seated in the back seat, was flung from the vehicle. He made it to the hospital but has died. His older brother Eugene Thompson lamented the loss of his only brother this evening.

"He succumbed to his injuries because he suffered from broken skull and fractured neck and broken ribs and that is the injury that he suffered from and he succumbed to that injury."

"I hadn't seen my brother in two days and right how I am really hurted and depressed about it because I really need to talk to him and I can't do anything about it right now. It is just hurting a lot and I don't really know what to do. I really miss my brother a lot and I wish that he was here with me right now. I really wish that. The good Lord knows why he took him away. He knows."
Levan Thompson leaves behind a wife and young child. Also traveling in the Ford Escort was Kareem Hafiya who we understand is also seriously injured but stable. The driver Ewart Arnold is also still hospitalized. The van they collided into was driven by Florentino Penado but he wasn't injured.
