And while the Salvation Army gave to the elderly the Belize Red Cross today held its 17th annual Christmas party for children in Belize City. 150 tickets were distributed to schools across the city to be given to underprivileged children and today the Red Cross hosted them. With toy contributions from Barbara Reneau and concerned Belizeans in Miami the party was held this afternoon at the Red Cross Offices on Gabourel lane this afternoon. The Belize Red Cross' Adella Para explains.

Adella Para, Belize Red Cross
"They have been selected through school and so they come from various schools and this is the way we have it. We think in most areas children are always invited to parties but some are still left out so we decided that we need to share at this point with them. They will be getting a treat, they will be getting their turkey, their salad, rice, sandwiches, and also their cupcakes that are well decorated and a drink, they will be having that, and Santa will be issuing their toys.

The Red Cross is a humanitarian organization and we guide ourselves by seven fundamental principles so we decided that this is a way of giving. Although we give right through the year, normally we don't publish what we do so at this point we said let us do something for the children."

The Red Cross has a party scheduled for tomorrow for the elderly and the homeless.
