In the last month - three women have been killed by their husbands and on Saturday another victim almost got added to that list. But 23-year-old Jodie Myvette lived to tell her tale. Myvette's boyfriend Mark Medina allegedly opened fire on her after an argument on Saturday. Here's her story of survival under fire.
Keith Swift Reporting,
Jodie Myvette says that on Saturday night her boyfriend of four years Mark Medina became irate when he tried to her reach but couldn't. Jodie asked us not to show her face.
Jodie Myvette,
"Approximately like 8:30 my boyfriend started to call me and call me and call me and questioning me where I was. I just told him that I was hanging out with friends but he didn't buy it. He thought that I was with someone else and he just kept on calling me. He called me about fifty times, no exaggeration at all. He just kept on calling me calling me. Every time he called me he was getting more ignorant, more irate, and so I guess about eleven o'clock was the last call and that was when I told my friends that it was best that I just go and talk to him because he wouldn't leave me alone."
Jodie headed to her home on Berkeley Street which is where she met an enraged and irrational Mark Medina.
Jodie Myvette,
"He just instantaneously just came up to me, grabbed me in my blouse, punched me in my face, and just started cursing me out and telling me how that I am taking for a fool and he loves me but I am taking advantage of that and stuff like that. After that he slapped me again and when he slapped me the second time is when I started to fight back with him.
When I started to fight with him, that's when he got more ignorant and then he just said that he feels like killing me now and he just took the gun out of his pocket and put it by my head. I started to plead to him about why he is doing this and he had never behaved like this to me before. After that he just started cursing me again and then he slapped me in my face with the gun.
I ran form him and when I ran from him, that is when he fired the first shot. And when I got down, like I would say half-way down Plues Street, he fired the remaining three shots at me."
The shots missed Jodie but she was pistol whipped with Medina's 9 millimeter

gun and this Mark on her `cheek is proof of that. She says medina has apologized to her and claimed he was drunk. To Jodie that is no excuse. She says she came too close to dying.
Jodie Myvette,
"He has been harassing me from ever since the incident has happened and he is telling me that he was drunk and stuff like that but I won't buy it."
Keith Swift,
Did you at any point think that he would really kill you?
Jodie Myvette,
"I think that from the fact that someone pulls out a gun and put it at your head, they have the intention of killing you so yes."
Keith Swift,
Will you proceed with charges?
Jodie Myvette,
"Yes I will. I have pressed charges already. He has been charged with aggravated assault and harm. I don't think that it is, I don't know how to say it Keith but I just need people to understand that I don't think that I will back down off this situation any at all because he threatened my life and I don't that's love in no shape or fashion."
Keith Swift,
Will you take him back?
Jodie Myvette,
"No, I won't. Definitely not."
Jodie stressed that her relationship with Medina wasn't abusive. We should note and she conceded that Saturday night's confrontation may be related to an incident that occurred last week. Reports are that Medina was picked by a police officer who happens to be Jodie Myvette's ex-boyfriend. Medina allegedly abused by police and was charged for resisting arrest,
Today Myvette was arraigned for harm and aggravated assault today in Magistrate's Court. He was remanded to the Hattieville Prison without bail and is due back in court on February 6th.
