Police believe that a dead man found near the Belize-Guatemala border in Benque was most likely a homicide victim. The badly decomposed body was found this afternoon on the banks of the Mopan River in the vicinity of Puga's Farm. Police do not have an ID but say it is a Hispanic male who was wearing a blue jeans pants and white tee shirt with rubber boots. He is believed to have been in his mid to upper thirties and about 5' 5 inches tall. Police observed obvious signs of trauma to the head, and suspect foul play. Investigators are trying to determine if he was killed in Belize or was brought down by the current from an area in Guatemala. Anyone with information that may help in identifying the body is asked to please contact the nearest police station.
