But before Lord left, another last decision dealt with a BDF Solider who was charged with stealing an m-16 rifle from the force armory. In October of 2004, police found the missing rifle and ammunition in 39-year-old Corporal Eloy Hemmans's home. In November of 2005, Hemmans was sentenced to two years in prison after being found guilty of possession of 9 rounds of 7.62 rounds of ammunition. But he still had charges pending. Today, he pleaded guilty to the charge of handling stolen goods, specifically the m-16, but not guilty to handling the magazine.

He pleaded to the court that he has served 2 years in prison and has 5 children who are going to school. With that, he asked to be fined instead of being given a custodial sentence. Lord agreed and fined him $1,500 to be paid by April 30th. In default he would serve 15 months in prison. The prosecution withdrew the second charge for the magazine, and Lord then dismissed the case.
