In the wreckage that is Belize City's streets, drivers on the early part of the Northern Highway could at least console themselves in the knowledge that those few hundred yards near mile three had been properly raised and paved. Well, that consolation is gone because, guess what, that freshly paved area is now also pothole ridden. That's right, quick as that.
And what's the problem? Well, it's the rain but it's also because when those rains came, construction was not finished. Chief Engineer Cadet Henderson told us that first treatment had not has sufficient time to cure. But he isn't too worried; he says the second, more durable coat will go down on Wednesday and that should remedy whatever problems crop up between now and then.
