Last night Eugenia Aguilar visited us as she gave accounts of what for her has been restless days because her neighbor was conducting fiberglass work that disrupted her life. Well tonight sister to Earl Smith who is now in jail because of the dispute visited us to give her brother's version. Vanessa Smith explains that what ended with earl going to jail was a garbage dispute between neighbors which could not be settled over a period of years.

Vanessa Smith,
"This incident has been long going. It started a long time ago. @hen my brother moved into the area he complained about the garbage disposal that they have in the back of their yard. One day my brother was cleaning up the garbage in the back of Miss Eugenia's property. He common-law husband came outside and told him that he doesn't need to be on his property to clean the garbage. She got the health inspector and the Village Council to come inside my brother's work to inspect the area. Several times the health inspector came over, I believe his name is Inspector Novelo. He has come over to Earl's work several times and he is always approved his working condition. He has a very neat area at the back of the beach side there. He keeps it very clean. They gave him a paper to meet some several different standards. He had to put a wall to prevent the fiber glass from going over, he had to move to another area to do his sanding, which he did. He moved over to my father, Earl Senior's property. He does his sanding there now and now this thing, because he went to prison, they are bringing this all up to make my brother look even worse in the eyes of the public and I am here now to clear his name. I don't see that it is fair that they are bringing up all of this to the public when he has been cleared many times by the health department and also the Caye Caulker Village Council. My brother has personally told me that he is tired of all the complaints so he will move his boat yard to my father's property and hopefully all of this will end but I would plea to the health department to go in and check with Mrs. Aguilar's back yard and all the household garbage that she has there. That is where the health hazard is."

Vanessa Smith says the boat yard will continue to operate only that the sanding will not take place where it is presently located.
