Thursday will make it one year since the Zenaida Moya led Belize City Council was swept into office by historic landslide victory. Today the City Council took time out to say thanks. The council held a ceremony this afternoon to recognize those businesses and persons who have contributed to the council over the past year. In a year filled with trials, tribulations and for the council, triumphs Mayor Zenaida Moya says thanks was the least they could do.
Zenaida Moya, Mayor
"Today we felt that we had to go back to those who have been there throughout. We have had different businesses, different organizations, different citizens really working with this council. And I must say that whether they have given their in kind contribution, you know their expertise via materials, via financial resources, they have been there throughout and we of course could not call up every single person but we have to ensure that we spoke to those individuals that we could have spoken to and we told them thanks today."
The week long anniversary of their first year continues tomorrow with the launch of a new website, CITCO flag, and vision and mission statements.
