He was exposing himself to children nude and armed with a machete and that is why Cayo police say they shot 26 year old Nolberto Recino on Sunday morning. The police's story is that around 8 am they were called out to the area where they say Recino was exposing his private parts to women and children. They claim that when they approached him he pulled out a machete and charged at the officers. They shot him in the right side of his abdomen. He is in the KHMH in a critical condition and his mother Vilma Sanchez Escobar and brother Alexander Recino bitterly dispute the police's version. They say that Recino was chopping a yard and he wasn't nude.

"As I came from my trip, I got to know that he was shot by a police man. He was working for three days at the spot there and he chopping with a machete. The policeman came and shot him in his belly and he has three gunshots and the report that they made that he went with a machete towards them, we don't believe because we know him from time."

"That's wrong. When he was small he had mental problems but we've never seen him running about naked."
Police indicate that if and when he recovers - he will be charged with indecent assault.
