Swimming outings proved fatal for 4 persons in two separate incidents over the weekend. At around 3 on Sunday San Ignacio police were called to the village of Bullet Tree Falls where they were informed that three persons had been bathing in the river when a child disappeared underwater. A search of the area led to the discovery of the body of 7-year-old Jose Sierra who it is believed to have drowned.

Meanwhile the same fate befell three persons who were on an outing at Honey Camp Lagoon in the Orange Walk District. At around 6 also on Sunday police were called out to the area where they were informed that a skiff with five persons on Board had overturned. The occupants of the skiff were Efrain and Anaceli Perez along with 45-year-old Margarita Medina, 20 year old Leilani Sanchez and Lisbeth Cardinez. Sanchez and Medina told police that they were in the boat when it capsized forcing everyone into the water. They managed to make it to safety but the others did not.

Searches of the area led to the discovery of the body of Anaceli Perez who was found last night. The body of Lisbeth Cardinez was found at around 11 this morning and searches continued for the body of Efrain Perez who was found at around 4:30 this afternoon.
