Tonight a woman has lost one leg and doctors are trying to save the other after a terrible road accident in Orange Walk Town. It happened at the junction between Baker's Street and Queen Victoria Avenue at their intersection with the Northern Highway where tacos vendors usually congregate.
Just before 8:00, Dale Copo was coming out of Baker's Avenue unto the Belize Corozal Road, when 31-year-old Michelle Garcia who was coming across from Queen Victoria Avenue crashed into him. Her Suzuki Sidekick sent his Ford Ranger skating across the pavement and right into a fence where he pinned two women, 37-year-old Maria Santana and 24-year-old Xandu Copo.
Their injuries were serious and they were rushed to the KHMH. Both Sanatan's legs were crushed, and one of them had to be amputated. Doctors hope that they can save the other leg. Xandu Copo has a broken leg and her twelve-year-old son who was with her only received minor injuries and has been released.
Police have not brought any charges yet.
