He was sent to make a deposit at the bank but police say that 20-year-old Shane Gillett deposited the $1,252.56 he was given by Maya Travel Services into his pocket.

He went on trial for theft today in Magistrate's Court number three. Erick Reyes who is the manager of Maya Travel Services reported to police that on June 8th of 2006 he sent Gillett to deposit the cash along with a check for $34,000 thousand at First Caribbean International Bank.

Gillett left at 10:30 that morning but never returned to work. Reyes knows that Gillett went to the bank because he picked up a draft check for $2,513 but he never deposited the $34,000 check nor the $1,252 in cash.

That was in June and police picked him up in September; he went on trial today. Gillett who was undefended had pleaded not guilty but offered no defense at trial and questioned no witnesses.
