They were friends involved in bar brawl and tonight one friend is in jail for attempted murder and another is hospitalized with a serious stab wound to his rib cage.
The stabbing occurred on Saturday morning outside Caesar's Nightclub on Newtown Barracks. Police say 32-year-old Michael Heusner and 26-year-old Tyrone Broaster were involved in an altercation in the nightclub and that led to the knife fight.
Both men were rushed to the hospital. Heusner checked himself out of the hospital and he was today charged in Magistrate's Court with attempted murder, dangerous harm, and use of deadly means of harm.
The allegation in court is that Broaster stabbed Heusner and Heusner stabbed Broaster back in self-defense. But tonight the men say they are friends and it was all one big misunderstanding.
But Broaster's mother Grace says that police have it wrong, it was simply an unfortunate accident between friends. She says her son was trying to part a fight for his friend Heusner, and he was stabbed - accidentally.
She says Heusner has already allegedly apologized to her. Still, he is still in jail, after being denied bail by Senior Magistrate Dorothy Flowers and remanded to the Hattieville Prison until May 16th.
Broaster is lucky to be alive after a 5 hour emergency surgery to save his liver.
