A cyclist is tonight in the KHMH seriously wounded and the driver who knocked him down is facing criminal charges. The accident occurred yesterday afternoon around 3 between miles 13 and 14 on the Northern Highway.
31-year-old Andy Vacarro told police he was driving his Mitsubishi Gallant to Belize City when he knocked down Darrell Hyde who was riding his bicycle in front of Vacarro's car.
Vacarro's told police that Hyde suddenly swerved in front of him and he was unable to avoid the accident. Hyde was taken to the KHMH where he is listed in a serious condition. Vacarro meanwhile has been served with a notice of intended prosecution.
