A mechanic was knocked out and his Ford Ranger pickup stolen early on Saturday morning.
45-year-old Bernardo Bey Jr. told police he was at Shooter's Club on Amara Avenue late on Friday night. He left the club at 1:30 am and that's when he was approached by three young men who asked him for cigarettes. Bey went into his pocket for the cigarettes and that's when he felt a blow to the head. He lost consciousness and when he awoke, his keys were gone and so was his Ford Ranger.
Bey reported the theft to police and acting on that information, on Saturday evening around 5 pm police spotted 18-year-old David Wade who was sitting behind the wheels of a Ford Ranger which was parked on Douglas Jones Street.
He looked suspicious to police and they ran the plates and when they realized it was stolen, they arrested Wade. He appeared in court this morning and was charged for handling stolen goods and damage to property because the bumper was damaged.
