The former number two man at the city's Traffic Department was today convicted of killing a teenager in a traffic mishap. This afternoon in the Supreme Court a jury of 9 found Glen Rivero guilty of causing the death of 18-year-old Dwayne Francis on August 19th of 2004.

Back then Rivero was driving an Isuzu Trooper when he crashed into Francis who was riding his bicycle between miles 4 and 5 on the Northern Highway. Francis died the day after the accident but Rivero wasn't charged until nearly two years later, in August of 2006.

The jury deliberated for about 2 and a half hours before returning with the guilty verdict. He will be sentenced on May 8th.

Rivero who is now retired from the city's Traffic Department faces a maximum fine of between $2,000 and $5,000. He was defended by Dickie Bradley. Crown counsel Douglas Carr was the prosecutor.
