Police say a 22-year-old woman will be charged for attempting to discard her unborn fetus. The suspect, who is a mother of two other children, is still hospitalized tonight under police guard. Police say that last night she aborted a four-month-old fetus and tried to discard it in a canal. Police are awaiting on a medical report to confirm those findings. Concerned residents called 7NEWS to the scene last night.
Keith SwiftReporting,
By the light of a full moon, residents of Complex Street at its corner with Balam Street gathered at the corner to witness the spectacle of police investigating a concealed birth. It happened in this apartment building, where Marsha Bood is a tenant. She said the neighbor asked her how to discard the fetus.
Marsha Bood, Was Asked To Discard Fetus
"She came and asked me if I know where she could throw away this baby and I told her she has to wait until later on in the night."
Keith Swift,
When she told you this what did she show you?
Marsha Bood,
"The plastic bag and she said the baby was inside."
Keith Swift,
And when you looked inside?
Marsha Bood,
"A baby was inside."
Keith Swift,
How did it look?
Marsha Bood,
"Like a baby, it was small about four and a half to five months. I saw the face so I thought it was fully formed."
Keith Swift,
Did it have hair on its head?
Marsha Bood,
"Little bit, nothing much. You could have seen it was under but not fully out as yet."
Keith Swift,
What do you think happened?
Marsha Bood,
"Well I think she threw it away, that is from my point of view because she has two kids and if she didn't throw it away, from she started having pain and started having signs of miscarriage she could have hurry ran to the hospital but she was up there all day today going through all these signs and symptoms and she never did asked anyone to take her to the hospital."
Keith Swift,
What do you think should happen to her?
Marsha Bood,
"Well I think she should get punished for what she did because that is wrong and I don't want to be a part of this because she came and she asked me if I think she should throw it in the garbage or the canal and I told her if she threw it in the garbage, they would find it and it would be a big publicity at the back here and if she throws it in the canal, somebody will find it in the morning."
A post mortem was scheduled to be conducted on the fetus today.
