Man Loses Eye in Bar Brawl

A man is tonight without one of his eyes after it was cut out during a bar brawl in Independence Village. It occurred on Friday night around 8:25. The victim 42-year-old Jose Gallardo was allegedly involved in a fight with 30-year-old Juan Velis, both men are from Bella Vista Village but were drinking at a bar in Independence.

It is alleged that during the argument, Velis pulled out a knife and cut Gallardo in his face. The injury was so severe that Gallardo's entire left eye was gouged out. Velis meanwhile had a cut on his hand. He has been charged with maim and dangerous harm.
