Four men accused of having sexual relations with underage girls are free men tonight, after the DPP's offices withdrew the charges against them. The first two to walk were Feliciano Lanza and Naim Ramos. They were both accused having sexual relations with the same girl, who was only 13 at the time. Lanza encounter allegedly occurred on September 10th of 2005 in Orange Walk Town. Ramos is also accused of having relations with her in that northern town, just days earlier.
But yesterday before Justice Herbert Lord in the northern session of the Supreme Court, prosecutor Douglas Carr entered a nolle pros for the charges of unlawful carnal knowledge. The reason? Well both the girl and her mother requested that there be no court action.
And keeping it in the north, accused pedophiles Cristobal Santos and Roy Moguel were also sprung free. They were accused of having sexual relations with 14-year-old girls. Santos allegedly had sexual relations with a girl on December 27th of 2004 in Orange Walk Town. Moguel allegedly had sexual relations with another girl on September 15th of 2005 in San Lorenzo village.
Different girls, different charges but similar crimes, and identical conclusions. The charges in both cases were withdrawn yesterday because both Santos and Moguel ended up marrying the girls they were accused of having unlawful sexual relations with. None of the four men had attorneys.
