Mayor Moya Bumped from Independence Day Ceremony

You just saw Mayor Zenaida Moya giving her statement in response to what she says is a major diss by the government. At some length, Mayor Moya explains that she was first invited to give the opening address at tomorrow's official ceremonies, and then dis-inivited without even being notified. And what makes it worse, according to the mayor is that Tourism Minister Godfrey Smith will now give the welcome that had been assigned to her. But he won't.

Smith confirmed to us that the programme was adjusted to make space for Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega. The former Sandinista leader and old socialist buddy of the Prime Minister has been invited as a special guest of this year's September celebrations.
