Kareem Stevens Could Have Been Shot

A young man could be just another murder statistic tonight, but he says that due only to the luck of a misfire, he is not.

Just after 8:00 last night, 19 year old Kareem Stevens was riding on Central American Boulevard when he says four men came out of a yard and held him up with what appeared to be a chrome 9-millimeter pistol. The man with the gun pointed it at his head, and pulled the trigger, but the gun did not discharge. When this happened, Stevens bolted.

Stevens told police that one of the men appeared to be Kaylon Matura, who lives in the area. 23-year-old Matura has been detained pending charges.
