Police and transport investigators have concluded that the man who caused the accident was Michael Escalante, the driver of the cargo truck that slammed into the bus on September 20, killing 6 and injuring 18.

A very long list of charges is being held for Michael Escalante at the Orange Walk Station, which is his hometown. He has been released from the hospital, but is still reported to be slipping in and out of consciousness. Police will not lay charges until he stabilizes.

There are very different accounts of what happened on that day but investigators have concluded that Escalante was overtaking improperly, basically ran out of space and crashed into the bus.
