There is a new Chief Elections Officer. She is Ruth Meighan and she was sworn as the boss at the Elections and Boundaries Office this morning by Danny Madrid – President of the Association of Justices of the Peace and Commissioners of the Supreme Court.
Meighan has 14 years of work experience in the public service and has an executive master’s degree in business administration. Her swearing in coincided with a one day retreat at Black Orchid Resort in Burrell Boom Village for staff.
Observers say Meighan takes over at a difficult time after the short tenure and fairly hasty departure of former chief Dorothy Bradley and on the cusp of an election. Political workhorses say that at best, it promises to be a steep learning curve.
