Today, a family dispute ended in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court after a brother was sent to jail for punching his big sister in the mouth! Twenty four-year-old Glenford Grant pleaded guilty to wounding before Magistrate Roberto Ordonez. But when asked why he struck his older sister. Grant would only tell the court that he hit her during an argument on December twenty eight. Because Grant further refused to speak or answer questions on the matter the victim was summoned to court. The thirty two year old woman revealed that it is not the first time that her brother has been violent, she said he beat her repeatedly even in front of his children.
Magistrate Ordonez then imposed a two-year sentence. Grant got the maximum because of his behavior and the frequent habit of beating his sister for no reason. He could have gotten a lesser sentence or even fined for the crime, but when Ordonez announced that he would bound Grant over to keep the peace for a while, Grant told the Magistrate that he did not need to do that because he does not give trouble. And now he’ll be able to continue that trouble free behavior from behind prison walls.
