They were busted with drugs and an unlicensed firearm yesterday and this morning 32-year-old Ellington Ottley Sr. and a 16-year-old minor were charged in court. The pair was found in possession of a prohibited.357 Magnum pistol, 11 live rounds of ammunition, and 467 grams of weed. The gun was found at Ottley’s business place, #12 Daly Street where he owns a boutique.
And while Ottley pleaded not guilty, this morning in court the minor offered to plead guilty and serve the jail time. The minimum sentence for a prohibited firearm is 3 years. But even though the 16-year-old was in the presence of his mother – Chief Magistrate Margaret McKenzie rejected his plea. That is because the DPP’s office believes the minor is covering for Ottley. And that’s probably because on Monday Ottley and his girlfriend were charged for drug trafficking. It was a separate incident and they were released on bail. Today Ottley wasn’t so lucky. He was remanded to jail until January 23rd. The minor was also remanded to the Youth Hostel.
