Around 8:00 this morning at the Kolbe Central Prison, wardens shot and killed inmate Freddy Harris. Prison authorities claim that the 30-year-old was shot in the buttocks after he escaped from prison guards. He later died from that injury. A very sterile story and we have heard vastly differing accounts that describe his end as far more callous, but despite many attempts, we have been unable to reach the Kolbe CEO Marlon Skeen for comment. But today, Senior Superintendent Chester Williams said they are investigating.
Sr. Supt. Chester Williams,
“We have been informed that a prisoner by the name of Freddy Harris a 30 year old who was remanded at the Hattieville Prison for dangerous harm was attempting to escape and while doing so he was shot by prison authorities and was transported to the KHMH. He was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital. That matter likewise is being investigated by the police. The file at the end of the investigation will be forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecutions and he will give his final decision on that investigation.”
Harris was on remand for dangerous harm. He was pronounced dead on arrival at the KHMH. In November, inmate Gilroy Wade was killed at the prison and the man accused of pulling the trigger in that one is prisoner Deon Slusher.
