She was leaving Belize with $20,000 in U.S. currency stuffed in her clothes but Mexican businesswoman Reyna Hernandez Casiano never made it onto the plane. That is because a female security guard noticed something peculiar on the 26 year old Casiano. She searched her and found 100 U.S. $100 notes - if you do the math that adds up to $10,000 in u.s. currency. That was on the left side and a search of right side led to another 100 U.S. $100 notes. It totaled US$20,000 and so instead of jumping on her plane to Salvador - she was arrested.
Today she was arraigned in court for attempting to leave Belize with more than the prescribed amount without first having reported the matter to the supervisory authority. She appeared in court alongside her attorney Roberta Usher and pleaded not guilty. She was offered and met bail of $5,000 plus two sureties amounting to $5,000.
