They are accused of the sensational Mothers’ Day massacre of the Brannon brothers almost two years ago – but Joseph Kee and Taedron Bennett will still not have their day in this session of the Supreme Court. After many adjournments, the trail was supposed to have started today. Their attorney Ellis Arnold told the court that he was ready to go to trial. But Justice Herbert Lord explained that the case is a matter for Justice Troadio Gonzalez – who is presently on three months leave.

Lord is sitting in for Gonzalez, but reliable information suggests that he cannot proceed judiciously because he was the one who dealt with the case as Chief Magistrate in 2006. So, the case has been traversed to the next session and trial date has been set for April 21st. Of course, by then, deputy DPP Cheryl Lynn Branker Taitt who has been the senior prosecutor assigned to the case, may be on maternity leave – which she will start in March. So right now, we can’t say for sure what will happen, we’ll just have to wait for April 21st which will be 23 months after the double murder.
