Three other men were injured in separate shootings over the weekend – two of them in Belize City. The first was on Central American Boulevard on Friday night. Andrew Humes says that around 7:15 he was in front of Sonny’s Supermarket along with Wilhelm Young when two dark skinned males on bicycles approached them and opened fire. Humes was hit in the right side of his lower abdomen and his left leg. Police recovered 6 expended 9 milimeter shells from the scene. Humes was admitted to the KHMH in a stable condition. No one has been charged.
The second city shooting was on Victoria Street - which is where two gunmen pulled the trigger on a family celebration. 24 year old Ronnie Blades – who is a tour guide – was with Christopher smith in an empty lot around 9 pm. There was a party going on inside the house but that didn’t bother the gunmen who let loose with at least three shots from a nine milimeter pistol.
Christopher Smith managed to escape without injury but Ronnie Blades wasn’t as lucky. He was hit in his left upper leg and upper right arm. He was admitted first to the KHMH and then Medical Associates, but when we checked this morning – he had already been discharged. 3 expended shells were recovered at the scene. The home’s owner says Ronnie Blades was not a guest at their family function.
