On the weekend of April 11th to 14th thieves broke into Luke Espat’s apartment on the 7th floor of the Renaissance Towers building and stole two handguns and assorted ammunition, $4,000 plus in cash, a laptop computer, a safe full of documents, a DVD with personal and business documents, and a cell phone. All told, the property stolen was valued at $49,700.

Now, police say they have one of the three men responsible for the major heist. He is Mark Godoy, 24, a resident of #23 Linda Vista who gave his occupation as a security officer.

In court, Godoy was charged with burglary and conspiracy to commit burglary. He denied the allegations, claiming he is innocent and also told the Chief Magistrate that he was beaten by police for something he never did. Godoy Jr. said that police hand cuffed him, placed a bag over his head and beat him. Still, Magistrate McKenzie agreed with the prosecutor’s motion for bail denial after he told the court that the crime is serious, especially since the two firearms have not been recovered. She remanded him to the Hattieville Prison.

According to the police charge sheet, two other men, whose name and particulars are known, are also wanted for the burglary.
