Exactly two months after twenty two year old Mirna Sanabria was shot and killed during a robbery at her family’s store in Cotton Tree Village, Belmopan police have arrested one of their three suspects. Authorities say they have strong evidence that links twenty year old Nelson Gibson to the brutal killing of the young mother and the attempted murder of her father. Gibson has been positively identified as one of the three persons who held up the family.

Turns out Nelson Gibson is no stranger to the community. In fact not only is he a resident of Cotton tree Village but he remained there up until the time of his arrest. He has been charged with murder, attempted murder, use of deadly means of harm and wounding.

Police believe Mirna Sanabria was killed because she probably knew the robbers and would have been able to identify them. Sanabria was shot in the neck while holding her seven month old baby. The infant was not injured. The robbers stole three hundred dollars in cash, jewelry and an assortment of coins.

While the police now have Nelson Gibson in custody they are now looking for their other two suspects who they believe are also from the area.
