On Friday, the Prime Minister cited Emilio Zabaneh as a man on government’s payroll who was earning a pay check but not working for it. Well now, Zabaneh is challenging that. He told us that he was working at what’s called the Independence School of Intermediate Studies to tutor 10 children who got less than 50% on the PSE.
He says he taught them the bible and Christian living at least twice a week. And he collected a single pay check from the Ministry of Education that he says was split up among the three volunteers who work in the programme.
Zabaneh, who is the son of former House Speaker, Elizabeth Zabaneh, was fired in march, and says that the programme continues. Except now, instead of splitting up his pay check, he and the others work on a voluntary basis.
