On Sunday afternoon, a daring hold up and robbery left one businessman thousands of dollars short. Thirty six year old Mukesh Makwani was too scared to appear on camera saying that he fears for his life after he was held up at gunpoint.
The incident unfolded yesterday afternoon just outside of Makwani’s Store, Miami Shop at number 76 Euphrates Avenue. He had just left the establishment and was crossing the street to get into his car when he was held up. The robber grabbed a bag that contained seventeen thousand dollars in cash and five thousand dollars worth of BTL phone cards. The robber then made good his escape by jumping into a white van that was parked nearby and sped off.
Meanwhile Makwani says it is the seventh time that he has been robbed and he is thinking seriously about whether or not he should remain open for business. Meanwhile Belize City police have no leads into the Sunday hold-up and robbery.
