We are not sure if forty seven year old Floyd Miller Ramsey was watching the news last week when we reported on a twenty three year old woman who was remanded for seventeen days for stealing a bicycle from a man, but if he had heard the news then maybe, just maybe he would be passing tonight at home and not in Hattieville Prison. At around one ten on Sunday morning Floyd Ramsey Miller who resides at twenty six Ben Bow Street was at the corner of Amara and Kut Avenues when he pulled a gun on a woman and stole her pink colour beach cruiser.
Forty five year old Orlet Bevans told police that she was riding her bicycle when a bald headed man approached, took out a thirty eight revolver and then asked her a very strange question that is if she had any rounds for the firearm. Bevans said no and that is when she said the man pointed the gun to the left side of her body. Bevans said because she feared for her life she quickly handed over the bike and the man then rode off.
It was reported to police but it was not the authorities who brought the suspect in three days after the incident but the victim herself. We are not sure how Bevans managed to apprehend and escort her alleged robber over to the Queen Street Police Station but she did. Floyd Ramsey Miller was promptly arrested and charged with robbery. When he was arraigned this morning in court number two he pleaded not guilty to the charge but because he allegedly used a gun to commit the offence, Magistrate Dorothy Flowers denied him bail.
Floyd Ramsey Miller will remain on remand until July eighteenth when he is scheduled to reappear in Magistrate’s Court.
